        "text": "Start here, because everything else in the room is a reply to it. Eleven months of the same horizon, repainted every time the light in the studio changed. Stand square to it for a moment before you look at the surface — the picture is one thing at three metres and another at one."

        "text": "Two years later, and the last of the series. The horizon has gone; what is left is a circle scored into the ground with a blade. Weiss asked that it lean rather than hang, at the height of whoever is looking at it, so that it changes as you move past."

        "title": "A press rebuilt by hand",
        "text": "Okonkwo made these while putting a proofing press back together. Each block was pulled separately and the register left deliberately out, so no two colours ever share an edge. Open it and look at the top edge to see what that means."

        "text": "Three discs laid down before the previous one had dried, so the colours mixed on the sheet instead of on the palette. Stare at the centre for ten seconds and then look at the wall beside it. The title is an instruction."

          "text": "The red block sits a little under two millimetres left of where it should. Look along the top edge: the printed colours meet the paper at slightly different points, so no two blocks ever share a line. The artist proofed each block separately and refused to correct the drift."

          "text": "Under this band there are ten earlier horizons, each painted out. At this magnification the ridges of the buried edges are visible where the light rakes across them — the reason the surface is never quite flat."
