One cross-section, scaled about one point, over and over — a passage seen straight down its axis and drawn in pen. Each face of the section runs its own ladder in its own perpendicular distance from the vanishing point, so the spacing on every face is exactly uniform while the faces themselves lie at every angle: rungs across the walkway, verticals down the walls, shallow chevrons overhead, one pitch for all of them. Because two faces meeting at a corner sit at different perpendicular distances, their ladders land at different radii on the ray they share, and the mismatch grows linearly outward — so every seam in the picture is serrated, the corners herringbone rather than mitre, and nothing in the package ever draws a seam. One exponent carries the whole recession: at 0 the ladder is arithmetic and the sheet is a flat even ruling, at 100 it is geometric, at 200 the ring radii go as 1/n and the passage rushes away. Where the ladder would come out finer than the nib it stops, and the middle of the sheet closes on a small dark knot that is crowded lines over paper rather than a blot. Two inks, a wobbling nib whose neighbours meander with it into curtain folds, ragged ends that bunch black against the inked rails, and no wash, alpha, gradient, shadow or clip anywhere.
