Broken Color
Lumen & Logic
Abstract-expressionist palette-knife painting built from the broken-colour technique. Thousands of short, angular knife dabs are stamped in painter order, each taking a saturated palette hue that, with high probability, deviates from the slowly drifting regional colour — so red, blue, green and gold sit side by side and optically mix at a distance. A fraction of dabs are laid in metallic gold leaf. The accumulated paint thickness forms a height field; surface normals drive Blinn-Phong shading so overlapping knife ridges catch bright highlights while crevices fall into a dark underpainting, producing thick impasto relief. Gold dabs gain a broad, warm sheen that shimmers across the canvas.
