A dense, edge-to-edge drift of small flat leaf-sprigs on a near-black ground. A smooth seeded flow field — an all-over curl, a set of rotating eddies, a single streaming cascade or two interleaving braids — is integrated into streamlines, and each streamline becomes a run: a chain of discrete sprigs dropped nose-to-tail at roughly one sprig-length spacing, each turned to the local tangent and nudged off it, so a readable curving stroke emerges from marks that were never joined. Every sprig is a bowed spine hung with short pointed barbs swept forward toward the tip, their lengths following a lanceolate profile that peaks near the base and runs out to a point, and their bases overlapping by a fusion amount that takes the same mark from an open skeleton of separate needles to a single solid serrated blade. Four sprig families share that skeleton: the pinnate frond, the fine-barbed plume, the split lanceolate blade and the round-lobed bract. Size belongs to the run rather than to the sprig, drawn from a power law with a long tail, so a handful of runs carry the larger gestures while most stay small. Colour belongs to the run too, drawn from a slow spatial zone field so neighbouring runs agree and each ink owns a region, with a per-sprig break probability seeding off-colour intruders into every zone so no region is ever pure. A second slow field opens clearings where no run is seeded, letting the ground pool into dark rivers between the colour masses. Everything is opaque and painted largest-first with a weave jitter, so depth is occlusion alone and the stack interleaves rather than sorting cleanly. Full bleed, flat fills only — no outlines, no gradients, no shadows, no transparency and no text anywhere.
