Islamic star patterns by Hankin's polygons-in-contact method: a square, hexagonal or octagon-square grid is decorated by launching two rays from every tile-edge midpoint at a fixed contact angle; their intersections form interlocking stars and rosettes that flow seamlessly across tile boundaries. One angle parameter sweeps the whole design from soft weave to needle-sharp burst; strands render as traditional cased straps over muted tile grounds.
