Jackstraws
Lumen & Logic
A mid-century textile print: a softly jittered grid of large flat-colour circles — vermilion, marigold, straw yellow, blush pink, teal, forest green, cobalt, black and brick — on warm light-grey paper, with a scattering of cells left empty. Over the whole surface lie clusters of straight white sticks, like spilled jackstraws: each circle is slashed by its own cluster of roughly parallel and criss-crossing strokes, long near-vertical sticks thread down the columns connecting rows, short clusters fall on the bare paper, and thin white seams mark the column joins.
