String art wound onto a logarithmic spiral. Nails are placed along r = R·growth^(θ/2π) — the equiangular curve a nautilus shell grows by — and each nail is joined to the one a fixed number of steps ahead with a straight thread. Because the spiral is self-similar, every chord spans the same angle and radius ratio, so the threads sweep out a logarithmic-spiral envelope: a fan of fine lines spiralling from a glowing warm core out to a cool rim.
