A square packed edge to edge with flat-colour tiles at wildly different scales. One coarse grid of squares is recursively split into 2×2 sub-squares, so every tile is square and every tile edge lands on the same power-of-two lattice — boundaries continue across unrelated regions and the sheet reads as one ruled surface rather than as placed panels. How far a region subdivides is read from one smooth spatial field, so detail clusters: whole patches dissolve four levels down into a fine speckle of static while large tiles beside them are never split at all, and an eight-pixel tile can sit against one a twelfth of the sheet wide. Every tile is a flat opaque square carrying at most one further flat mark in a second colour — a corner quarter disc, an edge half disc, an inscribed circle, a quarter-annulus arc band or a straight split — drawn at the tile's own scale, flush with its neighbours, with no outline, no gap, no gradient and no transparency anywhere. Laid over that ground are a handful of large flat masses grown as connected sets of coarse-grid cells: their outer corners are rounded and their inner corners filleted by a purely local rule, so an isolated cell becomes a circle, a pair becomes a pill and a one-wide chain becomes a rounded pipe. Masses take the palette's heaviest colours so they read as figure, a seeded share carry a pale offset halo that detaches them from the ground, and a few of their interior cells are restamped with marks so they are not dead flat. Colour is zoned by a second field into regional families rather than scattered uniformly, and the detail field lays out as a drift, as vertical bands, as a radial core or as uncorrelated scatter.
