A hypotrochoid: a small circle of radius r rolls inside a larger circle of radius R, and a pen at distance d traces the curve. The ratio r/R = P/Q determines how many petals or loops the closed curve has. Multiple overlapping layers with slightly varied pen distances build up a dense, jewel-like web.
